This summer, faculty and students from the University of Toronto and the University of Waterloo met for the first CQIQC–IQC Workshop, an event aimed to strengthen ties between the Centre for Quantum Information and Quantum Control (CQIQC) and the Waterloo quantum ecosystem which includes the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) the Perimeter Institute and the NRC-Waterloo Centre.

With about seventy participants in attendance, this workshop hosted by CQIQC at the University of Toronto featured presentations by faculty and postdoctoral fellows, as well as a poster session and open discussions. A central goal of the event was to create new opportunities for students to connect across institutions, fostering collaborations that can extend during and beyond their graduate studies.

The workshop underscored the value of regional cooperation in advancing quantum research. Building on this momentum, the institutions involved look forward to meeting again next year to further strengthen ties and expand opportunities for collaboration.
