Its objective is to foster collaborations between French and Canadian researchers in different fields of quantum sciences and technologies. The workshop will cover the latest developments achieved in both countries in the fields of: Quantum Materials and Circuits; Quantum Computing and Simulation; Quantum Communications; Quantum Sensing and Metrology; Quantum Basic Science and Quantum Engineering; Interface between Mathematics and Quantum Science; Quantum Science and Technologies and Humanities and Social Sciences.

Celebrating 100 Years of Quantum Science at the University of Ottawa | May 26 - 30| NexQT, University of Ottawa

Quantum mechanics is a cornerstone of modern physics, despite having been developed merely a century ago. Known for its remarkable precision, quantum theory explains nearly every observed physical phenomenon while challenging our understanding of reality, locality, and the nature of the universe. Over the past fifty years, the unique properties of quantum systems—such as superposition, entanglement, and contextuality—have sparked a second quantum revolution (Quantum 2.0). This revolution has transformed information theory and fueled ambitious global initiatives to develop quantum technologies, unlocking new capabilities in sensing, communication, and computation. To mark this historic milestone, NexQT proudly presents a school and workshop focused on advancing quantum education and research.

Lee’s Fest: Quantum Gravity and the Nature of Time | June 2- 6, 2025 | Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics

What is time? Is it fundamental or emergent? This question lies at the foundation of contemporary physics and provides a key to unlocking some of its most challenging open problems, from quantum gravity to cosmology. The quest to understand time extends beyond the realm of physics, providing a privileged standpoint to address questions in diverse fields such as philosophy, mathematics, and computer science.
